Komplete Kontrol S88 – the most intuitive piano-feel controller
Native Instruments just introduced the first true-piano-feel controller to their Komplete line, Komplete Kontrol S88 brings accuracy and intuitiveness together.
The Komplete Kontrol S88 controller features a full 88-key hammer-action Fatar keybed, the same manufacturer who produces keybeds for some of the top stage pianos on the market. The keys have been meticulously weighted to give users the most accurate piano-feel out of any Native Instruments product yet. Furthermore, the keys feature aftertouch, giving you the ability to create incredibly expressive arrangements.
The combination of Native Instruments Komplete’s intuitive and tight integration with your DAW alongside the highly accurate feel is huge, up until now discerning Pianists had to either make-do with sub-par MIDI controllers or use a combination of stage piano and MIDI controller in the studio.
The Komplete Kontrol S88 features Native Instruments’ “Light Guide” which allows you to easily display different modes, scales, chords, zones and modifiers using different LED’s above each key. This makes the Komplete Kontrol S88 a great option for beginners who want to learn Piano on a platform with accurate feel. They went all-out with the details, as far as placing foam pads above each key, for accurate damping on the rebound.
The high-res displays show you only the important details…
The Komplete Kontrol S88 features the same intuitive high-res displays as seen on the other Komplete Kontrol S-series controllers, allowing you in-depth insight into your DAW or presets and plugin parameters. This system improves workflow hugely and allows you to step away from the screen and rather browse through your sounds and parameters on the controller itself, rather than choosing patches based on a cool sounding name (we’ve all done it!).
Thanks to Native Instruments’ NKS standard, a large variety of plugin manufacturers are jumping on the compatibility bandwagon, allowing you to control more than just Native Instruments plugin and your DAW directly from your Kontrol S-Series controller. So, if you favourite plugins aren’t compatible with the platform, it’s only a matter of time.
The retail price on the Komplete Kontrol S88 is set at USD $999 (Around R15k excl. duties), not bad at all considering the high-end feel and next-level integration.
