The Joué re-Connect is a USB to MIDI cable for standalone setups
Joué re-Connect is a USB to MIDI system designed for connecting your USB-MIDI controller directly to a MIDI enabled synthesizer.
Joué is known for their expressive modular MIDI controllers, with interchangeable play surfaces and various other nifty features. They’re designed to be incredibly intuitive and versatile, there’s just one slight down-side. Due to the size of the controller, it’s unable to host a DIN MIDI port, so it’s expressive playability was relegated to strictly use with a laptop or other USB-compliant systems. That’s all about to change, the Joué re-Connect is designed to add DIN MIDI to your setup.
While the Joué re-Connect was designed for the Joué controllers, they’re all based on Native MIDI messages, so I’m pretty sure it will work with a host of MIDI controllers.
There is a catch though…
The Joué re-Connect uses a USB-C connector, and as-it-stands there aren’t many options for USB-C MIDI controllers currently on the market. That being said, used in combination with a Joué controller and modular or other analog synth, it creates a versatile, computer-free synth setup. The cable does require an external 5v USB power supply, although most people have a couple of those around nowadays.
The Joué controllers have various microtonal and polyphonic capabilities, when coupled with the right synthesizer, Groovebox or drum machine – it truly is a versatile controller system. Each of the unique modules sells separately, the single modules go for around EUR €19 (Around R310 excl. duties), while the larger ones vary from EUR €29 to EUR €39 (R500 – R650).
Joué are doing a bundle deal on the Joué board, Joué Grand Clavier module and Joué re-Connect cable for EUR €477 (Around R7800 excl. duties). Otherwise you can grab the Joué re-Connect standalone cable for EUR €39 (Around R650 excl. duties).
