iZotope Ozone Imager 2 is a free visualizer and widening plugin
The new iZotope Ozone Imager 2 offers a much wider world of possibilities for stereo imaging in your mix.
iZotope Ozone Imager 2 is a new free update to the incredibly simple, yet super handy audio tool from iZotope. The plugin itself is inherited from their award-winning Ozone suite of professional plugins. One of the coolest features granted it’s simple, but that’s what this plugin is about – is the “stereoize” function.
This allows you to create a stereo image of a mono channel, to further widen. Of Course, widening a mono channel will have no effect, so most widening plugins need to be used in combination with something to create a stereo image in the first place. The new Imager 2 update introduces a new mode for the stereoizer, which is apparently has a smoother sound with less phasing and artefacts.
The new update also sees a redesigned interface including a new immersive and more fluid visualizer, there’s severable modes to choose from and it’s fully resizable.
A great all-in-one tool…
iZotope Ozone Imager 2 is not only a great visual tool, it offers simple but flexible widening options – making it a great all-in-one tool for stereo control.
“Imaging control is one of the big bonuses of the digital signal processing world. No plug-in does it better than Ozone. Not only do I use it as part of my mastering chain but I use the Imager module as a separate plug-in on individual tracks…you don’t need much to make a cumulative big difference.” says Alan Meyerson, Scoring Mixer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator)
The best thing about Imager 2 is that it’s absolutely free, tools like these are invaluable to producers, so go ahead and grab it from the iZotope website here.
