iZotope Nectar Elements plugin set to make mixing vocals easier
If you’ve tried mixing vocals before, you know the struggle! It’s a daunting process, especially for your own vocal recordings – That’s where iZotope Nectar Elements comes.
There are various factors that come into play when recording and mixing your own voice, from the physical to the psychological – you’re either used to the sound of your own voice or have ideas of how it should sound. iZotope Nectar Elements is the latest plugin from the legendary plugin developers, it’s a watered-down version of their flagship vocal processing powerhouse, with some extra intuitive features aimed to make life much easier.
iZotope Nectar Elements is a tool designed to make the most of your vocal recordings, by removing a large portion of the guesswork associated with the process, especially for beginners. When first opening the plugin, you are greeted with a simple options menu allowing you to choose a Vintage, Modern or Dialogue style and furthermore the amount of processing through three settings – Light, Moderate and Aggressive. Next up iZotope Nectar Elements runs through an analysis process of the source material, the plugin then intuitively decides what sort of processing gets applied to the signal – whether you need de-essing or EQ and so-on.
Is the effect just automatic or are you able to tweak to suit your needs?
Once the analysis and configuration process inside iZotope Nectar Elements is complete, you have the ability to further edit some of the settings, to fine tune the sound to suit your exact needs. The parameters are grouped into two categories – “Clean-up” which contains Pitch, Clarity, De-Ess and Dynamics controls and “Polish” which is made up of Tone and Space controls.
If you’re looking for a more advanced or hands-on vocal processing system, I would advise also checking out the iZotope Nectar 2 Vocal Suite, it’s equipped with much more control and a plethora of very usable presets!
iZotope Nectar Elements is currently going for USD $99, its usual retail price is USD $129 (That’s around R1400 on promotion and R1800 usually) however for an even better deal, iZotope is offering their “Elements Suite” for only USD $149 on the promotion (That’s an extra R200 for three plugins!)
