HumBeatz transforms your humming into usable MIDI parts
Ever had an idea for a hit single in your head? HumBeatz allows you to turn ideas into music, easily.
Record yourself humming or beatboxing into the app and watch it transform your doodling into a fully-fledged musical piece. HumBeatz features a metronome to keep your recordings in sync, the app allows you to layer up to 4 loops so it’s helpful to keep them all in the same tempo. HumBeatz detects the pitch and variations in your recording to generate MIDI notes which you can further edit in case you didn’t hit the correct pitch while you were humming.
HumBeatz gives you a host of instrument sounds to apply to your MIDI, from piano to strings. Furthermore, you can mix between your original hummed recording and MIDI instrument, giving you a huge array of sound design and layering possibilities.
HumBeatz features a “drum detection mode” that detects transients in the recording and turn them into drum notes. The app analyses the sounds and group similar sounds together and assign drum sounds to the groups, which you can then edit to fit your sound. You’re also able to mix between the MIDI and recorded signal for variation.
The Mix page of HumBeatz is a handy performance overview of all of your loops. Once you have recorded some loops into the decks, you’re able to perform them using volumes, mutes and two global effects.
The HumBeatz global effects can be adjusted on the effects page, the app features a delay and reverb, both with a host of parameters or presets to get you started quickly. HumBeatz has a “Teach Beatz” mode, allowing you to teach the app what your beatboxing sounds like. This makes the drum detection algorithm more accurate, as it uses your voice as a reference.
HumBeatz is available on both iOS and Android, it goes for R90 (Google) – R110 (Apple), visit the relevant app stores to purchase.
