Three all-new Hercules DJ controllers aimed at the beginner DJs
In the very early days of digital DJing, Hercules DJ controllers were some of the best options for beginner controllerists.
In the near decade since I remember first seeing a digital DJ controller, a HUGE amount has changed – from the technology involved to the expectations of more discerning users, and let’s not forget the pricing. Hercules DJ controllers are making an epic comeback, with the announcement of three new controllers aimed at the beginner market.
The DJControl Inpulse 300 is the first in the new range of Hercules DJ controllers, it’s a two-channel controller with large touch-sensitive jog wheels with the standard DJ line fader and EQ layout – with the addition of filter controls per channel. The Inpulse 300 features eight performance pads for beat-juggling or samples, and even has a series of LED lights that display the phase difference between the decks. If you’re not sure what that means, it makes beatmatching a little easier, without having to resort to the Sync function.
The DJControl Inpulse 200 is the smaller sibling of the Inpulse 300, it’s got smaller jog wheels, less performance pads and a few other tweaks to make it more compact.
Which software do the new Hercules DJ controllers work with?
The DJControl Starlight is the third in the new range of Hercules DJ controllers, it’s a super compact DJ controller featuring only the essentials that you need to get a mix going. The Starlight works with Serato DJ Lite, while the other controllers in the range of new Hercules DJ controllers works with DJUCED, a less well-known software platform that is just as capable.
This new range ofDJ controllers is ridiculously well-priced, the DJControl Inpulse 300 is retailing for USD $199 (Around R3000 excl. duties), the DJControl Inpulse 200 is retailing for USD $99 (Around R1500 excl. duties) and the DJControl Starlight is retailing for USD $79 (Around R1200 excl. duties).
