HDJ-700 – New headphones from Pioneer DJ
The Pioneer DJ HDJ-700 headphones have been announced by the global DJ tech brand and should be available globally in October, which if you are in South Africa could mean November/December.
We’re always just a short while behind Europe, down here on the tip of Africa.
The HDJ-700 headphones certainly look stylish and definitely seem to have a bit of a lifestyle vibe to them. They also appear to bring Pioneer DJ headphones in line with some other popular brands that have made inroads into this highly competitive and highly subjective sector of the DJ market.
The Nocs NS900 actually spring to mind immediately when looking at the new Pioneer DJ HDJ-700 ‘phones.
The HDJ-700 is a fully enclosed headphone which the company says is inspired by their top of the range models. Do you think they’re talking about the HDJ-C70 which are around R 3k or possibly the Pioneer SE-Master 1 for around R 30K?
Somehow we think the HDJ-C70 is the more likely headphone that the HDJ-700 takes its inspiration from, heh heh.
Sound quality is said to be fine-tuned for monitoring dance music with rich, clear mid to low frequencies (their words not ours) and who we are to doubt them. Pioneer DJ make quality products and the HDJ-700 is no doubt top notch too.
This sleek looking pair comes in four colours – matt black, matt black with a gold or red stripe, and cool white and the narrow ear pads, 40mm drivers with rare earth magnets should give you ample bass plus sound insulation when monitoring.
Global price is set at €139. In SA Rand, once import duties etc have all been added we’re guessing the HDJ-700 will cost around R 2,500.
