Gearogs is an online audio hardware market launched by Discogs
Gearogs will be the new Discogs audio hardware market place to buy and sell second hand music production gear. The site will be known as Gearogs and will be launched next month.
This new venture is real win for gear junkies and a good way to spend your cash – or earn cash – if you are so inclined.
The Discogs CEO, Kevin Lewandowski mentioned the launch of Gearogs in a recent interview with Thump magazine. The site will not only be selling second hand gear. They will also start selling things like books, comics, and even films.
“I’ve been focusing on what we call our meta-projects, like applying the Discogs concept to other things. We’ve started [a music gear database] Gearogs, because gear is so close to records. We’re launching a marketplace in April,” said Lewandowski.
Perfectly Positioned
Discogs will now be taking full advantage of their position in the industry to branch out into other ways they can be of service in the music and entertainment industries. This is important given how swiftly industries change and evolve. In order to remain current and profitable you have to figure out how to adapt.
It is the latest attempt by Discogs to thrive and take a slice of the music industry gear market pie. This industry in particular has been one that has seen significant growth in the last few years.
Gearogs is already up and running as a database. Soon you will be able to buy and sell your unwanted synths, drum machines and other gear.
“With your help we’ll list every turntable, audio recorder, amplifier, effects pedal, microphone, and every other piece of audio gear conceived. Any equipment that records, amplifies, mixes, or reproduces audio, belongs here,” says the Gearogs site.
