Free Mastering of your tracks by Soundcloud & Landr is something you and other aspiring producers could be making use of.
If you are a Soundcloud user you could be getting free mastering of your stuff by using the online mastering tool known as Landr.
Soundcloud has gone into partnership with Landr and they promise to optimise music for Soundcloud without charging you anything.
This move sees the online streaming platform focus on its roots, which is the market of music producers versus music consumers. This came to light after the launch of SoundCloud Go, their paid subscription service.
Landr was launched last year and was successfully backed by guys like Richie Hawtin and Nas. Also in last year they obtained $6.2 million in funding. Landr has been designed to deliver “a quality finish like any major label artist with a budget”.
You won’t however have complete and free access to all of the Landr services, all Souncloud users will only have access to free mastering. If you want proper MP3 or WAV mastering you will have to pay.
“We use exactly the same algorithms but we did some research to find the best output for optimising the sound of any track on the SoundCloud streaming format. The optimised tracks will only be hosted on SoundCloud and not in LANDR’s track library. It is really aimed at streaming on SoundCloud. If a user wants to get a proper master, they will have to buy it from LANDR in HD WAV, WAV or high or low-res mp3 formats.” said a LANDR spokesman to RA
The free mastering feature is free for every SoundCloud user, as long as you sign up for a LANDR account. As a free user you will get to download one free WAV, with the compressed format free for anyone. SoundCloud Pro and Pro Unlimited users get two and four WAVs.
