Finally, there’s an iPhone headphone jack dongle
What a time to be alive as finally there is an Apple iPhone headphone jack dongle available for their headphone ‘jackless.’
For $34.99 (R 570) you can get the special ‘3.5mm Audio +Charge Rockstar’ dongle from Belkin.
Naturally it’s so successful that it has become one of Apple’s most heavily-trafficked pages.
Previously the Rockstar dongle only featured two lightning ports, meaning that if you’d want to connect your headphone jack, you’d need another dongle. That’s one too many dongles in this day and age!
Of course, Apple is really pushing the wireless age and with that their pricey headphones, but as has been shown countless times, people love being wired, hence the massive popularity of the Belkin iPhone headphone jack dongle.
Even Apple-owned Beats by Dre is complying by selling wired headphones with 3.5mm jacks.
Belkin is adhering to the demand and Apple is making a concession.
Do Dongle
Chris Welch from Verge got an early feel of the dongle:
“So far, this new one is working as expected,” Welch relayed. “The adapter does indeed allow you to listen to music through headphones and charge your iPhone at the same time.”
So, what’s the catch?
Apparently, the lightning port adapter doesn’t allow for the splitting of headphones with another dongle adapter.
In other words, the Lightning half only works for charging and syncing- Users will be unable to convert the Lightning port into another 3.5mm jack.
I guess it’s just another way for Apple to remain exclusively Apple, shutting out any possibility of using other products.
No one can argue its genius, though practicality may be not so much.
But still, users can crack a bottle and celebrate with the new Belkin Apple iPhone headphone jack dongle.
Check it out here. Amazingly yet unsurprising, the SA store does not have it.
