Check out the Erica Synths Bassline DB-01 Groovebox
The new Erica Synths Bassline DB-01 – people are calling it a lovechild between a Moog DFAM and Roland TB-303.
The new Erica Synths Bassline DB-01 is designed to help you explore new sonic territories from bass and drums to experimental drones.
The key aspect is the incredibly powerful and intuitive sequencer, coupled with Erica Synth’s signature hard-hitting analog sound.
At its heart it’s a pretty simple synth – two analog oscillators, a switchable LP/BP filter, a noise source, a BBD-based detune effect and some modulation – however the sequencing capabilities put it into the realm of Groovebox.
It offers a built-in arpeggiator for quickly jamming melodies, alongside the ability to program 4 banks of 16 patterns to recall. You can quickly transpose entire sequences to fit virtually any sequence alongside any material, and it offers some pattern randomization capabilities.
The sequencer also features an independent track just for modulation control.
What specs does it offer?
The Bassline DB-01 fits nicely into their range of desktop Groovebox oriented synths, it also offers a fair amount of CV/Gate I/O capabilities to hook it up to a modular system.
It has MIDI in out and thru, and analog clock I/O. It comes with a bunch of scales built-in, allows you to create your own scales and supports micro-tuning. All built into a compact and sturdy aluminium package.
For those unfamiliar with Erica Synths, their stuff caters to the more “aggressive” sounds. If you’re looking for something unapologetically gritty, they have a lot to offer. I think the Erica Synths Bassline DB-01 coupled with their Zen Delay (which can feedback to the point of outputting straight tones) is a pretty insane live Techno rig that can fit in your pockets – well, almost.
The Bassline DB-01 is set to retail at EUR €460 (Around R7400 excl. duties).
