The dualo du-touch is one weird looking synth
The dualo du-touch is a controller, a looper/sequencer but most importantly it is also a synthesizer.
It is shaped like an accordion so this is how one would play it too. Designed as a fully portable unit (battery powered) you can record up to 28 loops on the fly.
Aside from being something of an eye-catcher onstage, the portability also lends itself to being able to practice or compose anywhere, anytime.
What makes the dualo du-touch both interesting but also potentially challenging is that although it is shaped like an accordion it actually has its own layout of notes around the keyboard which the designers claim is intuitive and logical.
Scales and chords are represented by geometric patterns and the developers claim that this is what makes the dualo du-touch so easy to learn to play is backed up by the fact that notes that sound harmonically good together are arranged next to each other on the keyboard. It’s called “the dualo principle” and was designed by a French musician who invented this layout of keys in 2007. It has since been acknowledged as the most intuitive and visual layout of musical keys.
Anatomy
The dualo du-touch has an 8-hour battery life and the synthesizer has 116 editable sounds, a multi-effects and a looper/sequencer with 7 tracks. You can store up to 56 songs with 7 tracks each in its internal memory.
As a midi-compatible controller you can control any software or synthesizer via 5-pin DIN or USB and is compatible with MAC OS, iOS, Windows, Linux and Android.
There are 116 pressure-sensitive light-up pads, tactile sliders and 3-axis movement sensors to manipulate the multi-effects and looper/sequencer’s parameters on the dualo du-touch.
The dualo du-touch may look a bit gimmicky but it’s actually quite groundbreaking in many ways.
