djay Pro AI can isolate vocals, drums & melodies on the fly
djay Pro AI is the latest feature to be added to DJ music app company, Algoriddim’s, djay app for iOS.
The Neural Mix feature on djay Pro AI can separate out beats, instruments, and vocals from music tracks in real-time to allow for live mixing.
Algoriddim have revamped their interface as well as added this novel new feature.
This adds an entirely new dimension to one’s mixing and presentation of a set of music because you can now remove the drum track on one song and insert a new one from djay’s library of samples and loops.
Onscreen sliders allow for smooth adjustments and fades, and even taking vocals or rhythms from one track and placing them on top of another track.
Neural Mix
Algoriddim call the new djay Pro AI feature ‘Neural mix.’
With this feature, you can separate the acapella from the vocal in any track.
Three new faders have been added for each deck and with these you can faced out (remove) the drums, ‘harmonics,’ which is the music (melodies etc) and vocals, to really mix things up.
It certainly takes mixing to a new and novel level. Of course a lot of this could be done with filters and isolating FX before but not as simply as this.
Remember Native Instruments STEMS that they tried to introduce as the future of DJing?
It was a great idea, but the shortfall was that it relied to heavily on the industry adopting this format.
Neural Mix seems like a much better offering.
The BIG question is, ‘how well does it work?’
But to be fair, in the mix, this should not be a problem.
djay for iOS is a free download from the App Store.
Upgrading to djay Pro AI costs $4.99 per month.
Aside from the Neural Mix feature, it also includes libraries of various, sounds, loops, and visuals for mixing tracks, hardware compatibility with DJ MIDI controllers, and more.
