The nifty DJ Conversion Utility receives an overhaul
The DJ Conversion Utility 4.0 update brings a much needed GUI redesign, small bug-fixes and performance tweaks.
For those who don’t know about DJ Conversion Utility, it’s a very nifty tool for DJ’s who use various software platforms or those who are planning on changing platforms.
It allows you to convert various metadata such as cues, loops, beat grids, folder/playlist structures to be compatible in a variety of different DJ software applications.
The application works for converting data from Traktor, Serato and Virtual DJ to Rekordbox. It can also convert from Rekordbox to Traktor, Serato, iTunes and Algoriddim djay.
The bad news…
The application is only available for macOS, and it requires an internet connection on startup. That being said – there are various ways around this.
The application allows you to convert metadata from a Windows machine, so if you have a friend with a Mac, they can help out there. There’s also a piece of software called Rekord Buddy 2 which has a Windows-compatible beta version – however, they use a rather expensive subscription service. I guess for once-off conversions, this might be the way to go for Windows users.
For Denon Prime users, the Denon Conversion Utility uses XML files which are compatible with the ones that DJ Conversion Utility 4.0 generates. So you can use the two applications in combination as a way to get your files and data from various software applications onto your hardware – intact.
The application is fully compatible with Traktor 2.X , Traktor Pro 3.X and Serato DJ Pro 2.x. It is compatible with Rekordbox 5.X (incl. 5.8.2), however, there are still one or two minor issues they are still ironing out there.
