Denon DJ SC5000M Prime with motorised jogwheels announced
M is for “Motorised Platters” and the new Denon DJ SC5000M Prime feature classic turntable-like jog-wheels is aimed at the purists.
Motorised platters on digital players is not a totally new concept.
We first saw it being introduced in Technic’s own SL-DZ1200 in 2004, then later in the Denon DJ DN-S3700 and even the Numark NS7 series of DJ Controllers.
However, it’s the first time we are seeing it being introduced into a serious high-end media player contender, the Denon DJ SC5000M Prime features most of the same features that made the SC5000 Prime so popular at the same price.
The new Denon DJ SC5000M Prime features the same 7” high-resolution touch display, eight performance pads and dual-layer playback as its predecessor. Furthermore, there are three USB slots and an SD slot for media playback, and the new Denon DJ SC5000M Prime is fully compatible with Denon DJ’s Engine Prime library software.
The Denon DJ SC5000M Prime is aimed at those DJs who seek the tactile response of turntables, due to the nature of the motorized platters, you’re able to perform most of the same techniques as you would on a real turntable – from scratches to bends.
How is the new SC5000M Prime the same price?
Denon DJ have done away with the display on the jog-wheel to keep the costs down, this is great as they now offer two different options so you’re able to choose the player that best suits your style. For those who want a more intuitive user-interface for browsing and multilayer control, or those who want the physical, tactile response of a motorized platter – Denon DJ has you covered.
Like I mentioned the new Denon DJ SC5000M Prime is retailing for the same price as the SC5000 Prime – USD $ 1899 (Around R30k excl. duties) which is a seriously good price considering the array of unique high-end features.
