Delta-V Audio SpaceCraft iOS Granular synth now available as plugin

Delta-V Audio SpaceCraft is a granular synth powerhouse, originally created for iOS and now available for Mac and PC.

The softsynth is based around two parallel granular engines, each can load audio files or record audio input directly.

The interface is designed to be incredibly intuitive, with very helpful readouts to help understand what’s happening under the hood.

For example, various parameters are controlled using X/Y pads, each of which has a thoughtful readout for what that parameter is doing. Granular synthesis can be very confusing to newcomers, this will be much easier to understand.

SpaceCraft can receive MPE data, allowing for much more expressive play than your average synth plugin. With MPE controllers, you have access to modulate the grain-position, pressure and pitch-bend using various MPE gestures.

For those without an MPE controller, or any MIDI controller – you can enter notes onscreen or set the grains to a scale and cycle through those to create an arp.

Each of the granular engines in Delta-V Audio SpaceCraft has an LFO for controlling the position of the grains, and there are two effects modules – one is a combined reverb and filter, the other is a ring-mod.

What’s new in the Desktop version?

SpaceCraft has an internal “Live-Sampling” mode which allows you to seamlessly overdub the audio, which is incredible for live performance environments or for creating endless ambient drones.

The SpaceCraft synth has been a very popular app for iOS music makers for a while, now Mac and PC users can take advantage of the unique plugin.

There are various new features that have been introduced to the desktop version – most notably the ability to drag-and-drop audio files directly onto the GUI, longer sample duration, eight times the amount of grains and a higher-fidelity audio engine.
