The wait for the Behringer Pro-1 classic synth remake is over…
The Behringer Pro-1 is out now – a modern remake of the highly revered Sequential Circuits Pro-One classic analog synthesizer.
The Sequential Circuits Pro-One synthesizer hails from the same era as the classic Roland SH-101 and Moog Prodigy synthesizers, it was the result of an idea to turn their popular Prophet 5 polysynth into a more compact monosynth to take on the competitors at the time. Only 10 000 were ever produced, making them quite a prized possession to synth collectors and resulting in them fetch a hefty price-tag on the second-hand market.
Behringer recently announced they’re taking on the task of recreating the Sequential Circuits Pro-One as part of their classic synth replica series. The Behringer Pro-1 features authentic reproduction of the original analog circuitry with a host of modern features added in. The new remake features comprehensive USB/MIDI implementation, Eurorack patch-points for expandability and an expanded dual 64-note sequencer.
Vintagesynth.com had this to say about the original Pro-One synth – “it’s responsible for some of the coolest and hardest basslines in electronic music which can be heard in the sounds of The Prodigy and Depeche Mode’s Vince Clarke. “
Behringer’s remake line is starting to really shape-up…
The Behringer Pro-1 takes the form-factor of their other recent synth replica’s, a lot more compact than its original predecessor, considering desktop and rack-mount use – most of the important connections are available on the front panel. Much like the rest of the synth replicas, the Pro-1 features the Poly-chain capabilities, allowing you to hook up multiple units to create a single polyphonic patch. There’s an audio input for processing external signal, and like I mentioned above, Eurorack compatible patch-points to inject external modulation and various other sources.
It’s set to retail at USD $300 (Around R4400 excl. duties) like the rest of Behringer’s compact synth line, for more information check out the Behringer website here.
