Official Behringer DAW announced – and best of all, it’s FREE
Behringer products range across almost every aspect of the industry, it’s about time we see a Behringer DAW.
Not very long ago Behringer posed a question to their Facebook audience, asking what features they would like to see in a DAW if they had to create one.
After 800 odd comments featuring all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas, Behringer made another statement officially announcing their endeavour to create a new DAW.
After stepping over the line and upsetting a huge part of the music industry with their latest fiasco, it looks like they’re at least making a positive commitment to the industry.
A lot of newer DAWs seem to be building plugins into a peripheral package, some don’t even offer third-party support meaning you’re limited to using only the plugins supplied by the manufacturer.
The new Behringer DAW looks like it’s going to be absolutely free for everyone, not just Behringer customers, and offer third-party plugin support as well as ship with a host of built-in VST plugins.
They’ve also stated that they’re aiming to create a sort of unified DAW system for recording, production and DJing, so whether they will be taking on the Ableton-style clip-based market will be an interesting turn of events.
Here’s the official statement…
“It’s now official. We will be creating our own Music Tribe DAW.
This is a massive undertaking, which will take at least 18 months and for that purpose, we have now assembled a large development team.
Our Music Tribe DAW will also include samples and VST’s plus connections to third party VST’s. Our goal is to include the very best features available, including multiple user interfaces for both recording and DJ.
We would love to develop this together with you and hence encourage you to share your preferred platforms and features so we can consider your input. Our opportunity is that we have no legacy platform to maintain, which will allow us to think “blue sky” and combine the “best of all worlds”.
Best of all, the DAW will be FREE of charge! Our goal is to empower all musicians to record, mix, edit and publish their music.
We have also recently launched our Music Tribe Market Place where you can buy and sell gear for free. Check out www.freemusictribe.com
As always thank you so much for all your support and loyalty.”
