Audeze Mobius – The most immersive headphones yet?
When Waves Audio first announced their ground-breaking NX 3D Audio and head-tracking technology, they quite literally turned heads and those heads could be doing double-time with the new Audeze Mobius which takes advantage of this technology.
In the dynamic digital world of virtual and augmented reality in video, there was a need for the same level of immersive detail in audio. For decades room-simulation has been a staple for mix and mastering engineers to use as a reference point, the problem is that it was never a realistic listening experience, as your brain would detect a certain level of deviance from the natural representation of audio in the “digital environment”, specifically when you move your head.
Waves NX is the answer to this and much more. The system uses technology to track head movements in 3D and relay them to software which alters the audio using a series of algorithms. The result is a natural representation of the audio as if you were sitting in a room with some speakers, moving your head adjusts how the audio is adjusted accurately to how your ears would perceive it in the real world.
World renowned headphone manufacturer, Audeze, took it to the next level by integrating Waves revolutionary NX system into their new Mobius headphones.
Headphones – on, World – off
The Audeze Mobius are multimedia headphones – they’re great for referencing productions, they’re an incredible gaming solution and they offer a rich and immersive cinematic sound for video. They support regular stereo, 5.1 surround and 7.1 surround sound. The Mobius headphones offer high-definition Bluetooth transmission, alongside USB and analog 3.5mm inputs.
For the most accurate representation of movement, Audeze designed the Mobius headphones’ head-tracking system to track 1000 times per second on six-axis of movement. It has an integrated directional microphone, making the Mobius an exceptional system for gamers, the accurate directional audio will give you the upper hand over your opponent!
That being said, most audiophiles get put-off by gaming headphones because the sonic characteristics may not meet their requirements, I assure you that is not the case here. Audeze has a long history of manufacturing high-end headphones, while Waves Audio has earned their stripes in software.
The Audeze Mobius are set to retail at USD $399 (Around R4800 excl. duties), which is really not bad considering all the technology that’s packed into them!
