New Apple iPad Pro 2019 model – a tablet to take on laptops?
The 2019 Apple iPad Pro has been announced, and apparently houses a faster processor than 90% of the laptop market!
There are a few huge new features on the 2019 Apple iPad Pro aimed at the more professional users – from photographers, designers and musicians alike.
The most unexpected yet praised introduction in Apple’s new tablet is the USB-C port.
WHAT?
Yes, Apple introduced a USB-C to the 2019 Apple iPad Pro rather than the Lighting port as we probably all expected. This is huge for various reasons, Photographers can transfer photos to the tablet directly – without any extra peripherals, Professional Audio users can use a variety of peripherals rather than being limited to only devices that support Lightning. This also opens developers up to create apps to work with a plethora of new peripheral devices.
One thing to note about the USB-C port, is that the Apple iPad Pro still doesn’t have a File-System, so it’s a no-go for Hard-Drives, that being said I’m sure it will be a matter of time until we see some sort of app or peripheral to sort that out.
What’s under the hood?
The Apple iPad Pro 2019 model features a new Apple A12X Bionic Processor, which they claim is more powerful than 90% of laptops on the market at the moment. It’s pretty clear that Apple is positioning the new iPad Pro in competition with professional laptops, the visual interface also features a lot of functions from Apple’s MacBook Operating System.
The new 2019 iPad Pro features the Liquid Retina screen as seen on the iPhone 10R, so the graphics are vivid and clear. The new tablet comes in two sizes, the 12.9” Apple iPad Pro 64GB starts at USD $999 (Around R15k excl. duties) and the 11” Apple iPad Pro 64GB starts at USD $799 (Around R12k excl. duties).
