AKG K361 and K371 is a new line of affordable studio headphones
Legendary headphone manufacturers, AKG, have just announced a new line of affordable studio headphones – AKG K361 and K371.
AKG is certainly a brand name that is synonymous with high-end studio headphones, they’ve been doing it since the early days of recording and are largely considered amongst the gold-standard in studio headphones.
Their range of headphones geared at studio use didn’t cover a large portion of closed-back options – which are more popular amongst traveling musicians, live performers and recording artists – as opposed to the open-back, which have a more “natural” response and therefore the chosen style for mixing and mastering engineers.
The new AKG K361 and K371 headphones take a different approach to the renowned studio options, they’re sleek and ruggedly constructed – definitely suitable for mobile use. Both new options feature 90-degree swivelling ear-cups, for single ear monitoring – great for live performances and DJ sets. Both options feature detachable cables and ship with carrying pouches.
The headphones are designed to deliver an accurate, neutral studio sound, with the added convenience of isolation – making them great for several applications such as in the studio, line performances, monitoring an electric drum kit or podcasting.
Designed to withstand rigorous mobile use…
The headbands, clips and other parts on the new model headphones are reinforced with metal, allowing them to withstand rigorous mobile use. AKG have also specifically designed the ear pads to be incredibly comfortable for long listening sessions.
Both are incredibly affordable, especially considering the wide range of applications.
The AKG K361 are retailing for USD $99 (Around R1600 Excl. duties) and the K371 are retailing for USD $149 (Around R2300 Excl. duties).
The frequency response of the new headphones are as follows:
