This Ableton prank call is hilarious
In an Ableton prank call someone claiming to be a DJ in the middle of playing a set, calls up the Ableton support line looking for technical help.
The DJ is “playing live at Berghain in Berlin” and in the noisy Ableton prank call he continuously asks for help without giving the tech support guy a chance to properly answer and assist him.
The DJ in the scenario is experiencing a “high stress situation after having to solve a misfiring ‘Launch Pad’ during a live set”.
The Ableton support guy thought that he was dealing with someone who was playing to a live audience and was worried for the poorly skilled DJ. He earnestly stayed on the line throughout the four minutes and eight seconds, eager to help the DJ who was in fact doing his best to pull of an Ableton prank.
The DJ behind the Ableton prank call
DJ Skull Vomit, a GrindCore producer also known as Tony Welter from Antwerp published the prank call on his Soundcloud page. The joke has already been played nearly forty seven thousand times since it was uploaded. DJ Skull Vomit is known for using the appeal of prank calls to garner attention and followers.
The technician proved to be a worthwhile employee, practicing patience and concern. For the duration of the prank call he was misled into thinking that he was dealing with a DJ who is smart enough to land a proper gig without knowing how to properly make use of Ableton.
The technician who managed to remain level headed without so much as laughing or hanging up, deserves a gold star for his efforts. He hung on while DJ Skull Vomit played an ear achingly combination of samples, breaks, and loops through the speakers of a phone headset.
