Traktor Signatures is Native Instruments’ new bi-weekly video series
Traktor Signatures is a new bi-weekly article posted on Native Instruments’ website, showcasing how Traktor’s changing the game for DJs.
Each episode explores how some of the industry’s top performers and DJs integrate the Traktor software into their workflow. Each artist breaks down their gear setup and gives a little bit of background about why they chose that piece of kit. We also get some insight into the artists themselves, alongside some tips and tricks for creating your own unique setup.
The thing that first caught my eye when I was introduced to Traktor, is the ability to adapt the software to how you want to use it. It’s far more than just a tool for DJs, the ability to create your own unique musical performance interface in terms of both the control and the way the software works truly is mind blowing.
Whether you’re a traditional “2-deck style” DJ, you’re able to control and mix the software via the CDJ’s, Turntables and Club-Mixer. Or whether you’re a Live performer, Traktor allows you to send MIDI timecode to outboard synths and split your tracks into “stems” to remix them on the fly.
So, who are the Traktor Signatures artists?
The first three articles showcase how Traktor can be integrated into a variety of different styles of DJ and Live setup. Drum ‘n Bass legend, Andy C, is a fantastic example of applying “old-school” turntable finesse to the expansive world of Traktor. Known for pioneering new ways of looking at the art of DJing and with multiple awards under his belt, Native Instruments couldn’t have picked a better ambassador.
One of the pioneering forces behind the darker side of Techno, Rebekah represents the more production/remix orientated side of the DJ world. Her performances are deep and immersive and really showcase the power of Traktor when put to its production paces.
Audiofly are another great example of a more classic DJ approach, using decks and a mixer. They utilize Traktor extensive library capabilities and looping functions to create constantly evolving back-to-back DJ sets.
