TOUCH for VIRUS app allows control for your Virus synthesizer

TOUCH for VIRUS is an app by developer, Maarten Lierop, aimed at bringing Virus synthesizers into the age of “touch”

TOUCH for VIRUS is particularly handy for Virus Ti Snow users, as the snow has a very limited panel-layout which is not conducive to sound design, unless you’re parked at your computer with the dedicated editor software connected. TOUCH for VIRUS allows you to take your Virus Ti Snow anywhere, the app needs no extra software of computer to function and offers dedicated knobs and sliders for almost all of the available parameters within the Virus Ti engine.

TOUCH for VIRUS has its own dedicated patch librarian, allowing you to save, reload and organize custom patches on-the-fly. This is handy for Virus owners who travel a lot and want to be able to quickly categorize and rearrange banks of sounds. Virus owners know the vast array of parameters on the synth are split up into 7 major categories – TOUCH for VIRUS allows you to save and load pre-sets for each section! This creates an almost modular approach to sound design, plug different pre-sets into different sections and quickly create unique new sounds.

What do I need to get this up and running?

Of course, you need an Access Virus Ti Synthesizer, TOUCH for VIRUS is aimed at Snow users – however it also works on the desktop models. Your Virus needs to be set into “Single” mode, and your iPad connected via a USB-to-MIDI interface. Due to the limitations of the USB chip in the Virus synthesizers, this system needs to use the actual MIDI connections, that being said the software supports “MIDI over Bluetooth” so if you’ve got an adapter, you’re good to go.

You also of course need an iPad – which needs to be at least iOS 10.3 or later.

TOUCH for VIRUS is available on the app store, it goes for USD $13.99 (Around R200) – it’s a no brainer for Virus Snow users!
