Numark DJ2GO2 controller is dynamite in a small package
The Numark DJ2GO2 is the second iteration of their entry-level controller, but even seasoned professionals may find some features noteworthy.
First on the bill, the much-anticipated addition of the “performance section” – adding hands-on control of loops, hot-cues and sample players.
This addition goes hand-in-hand with the fact that the DJ2GO2 ships with Serato DJ Intro, a massive upgrade from the previous Virtual DJ bundle.
That being said, the controller can be easily mapped to the most popular DJ software, and it’s only a matter of time till we see a host of user-mappings available online to download.
The Numark DJ2GO2 is compact, minimal and affordable.
This makes it the perfect choice for casual DJs and beginners. It provides all the essential functions needed to learn the basics of mixing, alongside some more advanced features for when you’re ready to add some flare.
The minute form-factor also makes it a great backup device for professional DJs; it will fit inside your laptop bag making it a great tool for preparing mixes on a tour bus, plane or anywhere where space is limited.
The addition of the dual-stereo audio interface is another feature that gives it appeal to the professional DJ market.
There are a few minor inconveniences though…
The lack of EQ controls is a bit of let down as it’s an essential part of my mixing routine.
However, it is something that can overwhelm beginners who just need to learn the basics of beat-matching and other essential techniques.
The pitch adjustment controls are very small, this is less of an issue as it’s something that’s not as often adjusted on the fly and can be set on the laptop itself.
The jog-wheels are also tiny; however, they have been redesigned for the DJ2GO2 for a slightly more accurate feel. I guess these are all equal trade-offs for the awesomely minimal form-factor.
