Denon DJ SC5000 Prime Firmware update offers rekordbox integration
The Denon DJ SC5000 Prime has just received a firmware update with two significant features that will please those that have invested in these media players or anybody that may be looking at them as an alternative to the Pioneer DJ Nexus series of decks.
The less significant but equally (if not more) important of the two upgrades is that Denon have adjusted the pitch resolution on the SC5000.
This should make for more accurate BPM settings and, hopefully, also improve the overall BPM detection which was not bad when I reviewed the media player but could have been a little tighter.

rekordbox compatibility
The enhancement that grabs all the headlines on the new SC5000 Prime firmware update is the announcement that the Denon DJ media player can now read libraries on a USB or SD card prepared with Pioneer DJ’s rekordbox software.
Denon DJ tell us that the SC5000 Prime will automatically convert all hot cues and loops as well as playlist so that they can be used seamlessly on their flagship media players.
This means being able to perform of either a Nexus decks or a Prime deck, with one set of prepared music playlists!
To be clear though, this is simply a cross-platform solution to make rekordbox enabled playlists readable on the SC5000 Prime.
This will not convert your rekordbox library to Engine Prime although the good news is that this 3rd party Denon Conversion Utility does convert rekordbox libraries to Engine Prime so it would definitely be worth checking out for those rekordbox users who make the switch.
Once the conversion is done in real-time on the Denon DJ player you will be presented with all playlists and the BPM, cue, and loop data. However, on loading a track the SC5000 will re-analyse the track to build its own waveform.
One frustrating issue pointed out by DJtechTools is that all playlists are listed equally – i.e. there are no folders (crates) so moving around your library may not be quite as seamless as you may have set it up in rekordbox.
