Denon Conversion Utility converts rekordbox library to Engine Prime
It had to happen and it has; someone has created an app called the Denon Conversion Utility (DeCU) which will seamlessly pull your entire rekordbox collection into Denon DJ’s Engine Prime music management software- or better still – simply add SC5000 Prime compatibility to a rekordbox flash drive…
DJ’s can keep their workflow as it was pre-Denon and the final product of this existing workflow, a CDJ USB stick, can be enabled by DeCU to fully function on the SC5000. With folder/playlists translated to nested crates, cues, loops and beat grids converted to Engine Prime.”
The Denon Conversion Utility does more than just that convert rekordbox collections though; you can import your iTunes collection with Serato cues and loops or your Traktor collection too!
But what will hopefully get most DJs excited is the rekordbox integration.
When Denon DJ announced their new PRIME series with the bold #ChangeYourRider campaign one of the first responses we noticed were DJs saying that they weren’t prepared to transfer the library of music they’d take time and effort to set up in rekordbox to a new system.
Of course, with the Denon SC5000 Prime one can actually just drag a bunch of tracks onto a USB drive and the machine will analyse and sort them on the fly.
But if you like to setup your tracks with cue points, pre-determined loops as well as all the other meta data – and have done so in rekordbox – the good news is that with this new Denon Conversion Utility all is NOT lost. In fact, ALL will be saved in ENGINE PRIME!!!

The company behind the Denon Conversion Utility is called And The Groove Remains and just days before Amsterdam Dance Event they had their final breakthrough and were able to decode the cue data inside the Engine Prime collection database.
It should be noted that this utility it not sanctioned by Denon DJ; this is a 3rd party company who decided to create this utility.
Notable features
The latest version of the Denon Conversion Utility is 2.5 and this seems to have been their final breakthrough. And The Groove Remains claims seamless integration and promises not to mess with your existing Pioneer DJ library.
If you have a USB with Pioneer DJ rekordbox library data on it and a track collection And The Groove Remains say that using their utility will simply add the Denon DJ Engine Prime Data, yet access the same collection of songs on the drive.
So, no duplicating of track collections and you’d pretty much be able to use that same USB drive on both the Pioneer gear and the SC5000 Prime.
“[With] Rekordbox 5’s ability to import the folder, playlists cues and loops from a standard CDJ USB stick with the file paths still pointing to the track files on that stick, [this is] a perfect 100% clean solution to fully enable that stick for Denon Engine Prime and the SC5000 player. Without losing its ability to work on Pioneer gear. No writing is done to the stick’s track files or to the Pioneer data, only the Denon data is added to the stick. No duplicate track files on the stick, both platforms use the same tracks.” They say.
The 2.5 version of the Denon Conversion Utility has also removed an extra step [detour] one had to make to preserve tags. In fact, with 2.5 colours, names, notes, cues and loops are all preserved intact.
All workflow variations of DeCU including the complete conversion of entire Rekordbox/Traktor collections are supported as well. And they all benefit from the fact that beatgrid data is now converted in 2.5.
