5 UDG Urbanite Bags Worth Checking Out
The new UDG Urbanite Series of bags is a great collection for DJs and producers to protect their gear, especially when travelling to and from gigs.
The UDG Urbanite range is not just top notch protective bags though; they’re good looking too.
Whilst many DJ/Producers invest heavily in Macbooks and Controllers, soundcards, headphones and more, the last priority seems to be a good, solid protective bag to cart your gear in.
If you are one of those you should think about the saving you’re NOT making since the risk of scratching or fatally damaging a piece of gear increases tenfold when not transported in a suitably protective bag.
Then there is also the comfort factor. The UDG Urbanite series offers both.
We had a closer look…
In total there are 8 UDG Urbanite bags to choose from; 3 Flight bags, 3 sleeves and 2 backpacks. We’ve also looked at their really cool Digi Headphone bag and Producer Bag, which for me is the pick of the lot.
UDG Urbanite Backpacks
The medium will comfortably store a DJ controller the size of a Numark NV or Pioneer DDJ-SB in the main compartment.
The large will comfortably fit a DJ controller as big as the Pioneer DDJ-SX2 or the Native Instruments Kontrol S8 in its main compartment.
Both sizes accommodate up to a 19” laptop which slides in via a side entry pouch. The two front pockets offer ample space to fit all accessories such as hard drives, headphone and cables. There is ample padding throughout to ensure optimum protection.
The UDG Urbanite Midi Controller Backpack has a versatile 4-method carrying system so aside from using it as a backpack it can also be carried like a suitcase.
UDG Urbanite Flight Bags
The medium Flight Bag will fit most average size controllers like the Native Instruments S4 MK2/S2 MK2, Pioneer DDJ-SB/DDJ-WeGo II or Numark Mixtrack Pro II or III.
The large is good for gear such as the NI Kontrol S8 or Pioneer DDJ-SX2/SR which are both quite sizable units.
The extra large can naturally accommodate any of the above and then also the really big boys, namely the Pioneer DDJ-SZ and Numark NS7 II/ NS7 FX.
The main compartment has high-density egg-crate interior padding so your jog-wheels, faders and buttons won’t get damaged or bent. Amazingly with all three sizes you can fit up to two 19” laptops or one laptop and a foldable laptop stand.
A third storage section is big enough to accommodate hard drives, headphone, cables, time control vinyl & accessories and is fully padded in all the right places for the ultimate in protection.
UDG Urbanite Sleeves
The sleeves are a pretty straight forward no frills solution to protect your prized possession – your MIDI controller. Fully padded with a durable zip that opens up completely, the sleeves are easy to carry and light. They are also very suitable for transporting midi keyboards.
They are pretty much designed to carry a single instrument but you would be able to squeeze a few bits and bobs in the bag too. But not a laptop.
The medium sleeve will fit a Numark NV, Pioneer DDJ-SB, NI Komplete S25, Traktor S4 MK2/S2 MK2, Numark Mixtrack Pro II, Reloop Beatpad, Akai APC40 MK2 and Vestax VCI-400DJ
The large is good for NI Traktor Kontrol S8, Pioneer DDJ-SX2/SX/SR/S1/T1/Ergo, XDJ-R1/Aero or Numark NS6 / 4Trak
The extra large is what you will need for gear such as Pioneer DDJ-SZ or a Numark NS7 II/ NS7 FX.
UDG Digi Headphone Bag
The UDG Digi headphone bag is made from highly durable Ballistic Nylon and is the ideal bag to store your headphones as well as USB drives, SD cards, external hard-drive, mobile phone, cables or any other small accessory you wish to pack in.
It includes a handgrip as well as a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap and for digital DJs performing with flash or hard drive directly off the Pioneer CDJ gear, this is the ideal size bag to travel to gigs with.
UDG Producer Bag
The Producer bag is available in two sizes;
The Small is good for – Pioneer DDJ-WeGO2, Reloop Mixage IE, Numark Mixtrack Edge, Vestax Spin2, VCI-100 MK2 or Hercules DJConsule 4-MX.
The Large fits – Pioneer DJM-900SRT/T1, Rane Sixty Four, NI TRAKTOR Z2, Reloop Jockey 3 Remix, Reloop RMX-80, Denon DN-X1700, Numark Mixtrack Pro I and Akai APC40 MK2
It’s a really versatile solution that should prove popular with digital DJs and electronic artists.
