YouTube Music 2.31 adds new features for streaming on mobile
YouTube Music 2.31 is now available for all Android users.
Sensational things are happening in the world of YouTube!
Earlier this month, YouTube Music users noticed a few changes to the visuals present on the app, as well as the addition of a new feature.
This latest version, which is now available to Android users, features a redesigned Now Playing screen, as well as the exciting addition of a queue feature.
Instead of the usual miniscule Now Playing section, it now fills the screen with media controls taking up the bottom-third of the view.
The result is a larger touch target for play, next/previous, thumbs up/down and progress bar.
Bigger and better
Everything about the upgrade is bigger, including the song title and artist name, which scrolls if text doesn’t fit on one line.
On the right hand side of the screen users can find an overflow menu to share, download or add to playlist and further right is an info icon to see other versions and related songs.
At the bottom of the screen is the all-new queue feature, which notes the next song due to play, as well as the playlist you’re currently listening from.
When expanding, the full list of upcoming videos is displayed, with a minimized player window and controls which remain above.
The most exciting new aspect of the queue feature is its ability to reorder songs simply by dragging them, something many users have wished for.
Lastly, the fullscreen mode has been modified, including the centralization of the thumbs up/down buttons as well as the right-hand placement of the shuffle and repeat controls.
