The Weheartbeat & #2SIDESOFTHEBEAT NYE event will be taking place at the Good Luck Bar in Joburg. The event will be a product of the collaboration efforts of these two local music scene crews.
The line up for the Weheartbeat & #2SIDESOFTHEBEAT NYE party includes the talents of The Brother Moves On, supported by Symatics, Women Who Kill, Raiko, Just Themba, Kat la Kat, and Kid Fonque.
“The Brother’s sound is a tradition-trouncing trans-Atlantic Afro-centric futuristically ancient fusion that jack knifes between offworld spectral dub-metal, hyper rhythmic rock psychedelia, indie-township and astro-afro-free-jazz.”
Kat La Kat has managed to build up a cult following thanks to his Deep Vibes mix series. Kid Fonque is the kind of artist that refuses to be tied down by boundaries of any kind, whether you’re talking about genres or borders. His twenty years in the club culture scene also sets him apart in experience and skill. Women Who Kill draws inspiration from his surroundings, imperfections, merging electronic, acoustic, atmospheric, percussive and hypnotic sounds all in one.
Symatics AKA Sims Phakisi is a DJ and the co-founder of Weheartbeat. While he draws creatively from his hip hop roots, he also calls on the sounds of electro, funk & soul in his sets.
Just Themba prides himself on being a DJ and collector who specializes in soul and hip hop. He is known for his sets on both the airwaves and dance floors – proving that he’s got fine taste and the skills to share it.
