First VR live set ever performed on the VRJAM platform
The future is here and it seems to exist on platforms like VRJAM!
Xilent’s seminal VR live set took place at Unite Copenhagen last month.
Dubstep producer Xilent became the first artist to perform a fully immersive VR concert, essentially forging a new path for the music experience as we know it.
The Monstercat affiliate did so by performing via VRJAM, a platform app for immersive VR and augmented reality and performances that use custom-built CGI content to create a virtual clubbing experience.
Fans were invited to participate via a custom-built app that works with any VR headset, putting users on the dancefloor of a virtual nightclub where your avatars could watch Xilent’s live DJ set and dance the night away- well, virtually.

In its equity crowdfunding campaign manifesto from earlier this year, VRJAM entices donors to buy into this virtual reality dream, saying:
“We will create a new world inside virtual and augmented reality, one in which social constraints like race and class are removed to create a society that is as free as possible,” is how its manifesto puts it. “In this world education is delivered to the world’s poorest people on an undreamt-of scale. Content creators are paid fairly for their art and the time that fans spend online is fairly valued.”
In August VRJAM partnered with Agora– the voice, video and live interactive streaming platform- to launch the event technology platform responsible for the Xilent performance.
“Agora and VRJAM are on similar missions to change the way the world communicates and I believe this is the first step into a fruitful and long-lasting relationship,” said VRJAM CEO and founder, Sam Speaight. “With VRJAM:X powered by Agora, businesses and potential attendees can now connect, learn and interact in unimagined ways.”
Can virtual reality ever replace REAL music experiences with real people? Though that notion may sound absurd now, in a few years we might be all jamming to our favourite artists via VR…
