Festivals are not the most environmentally friendly happenings, though things are rapidly changing with UK festivals banning plastic glitter and plans to ban straws and the emergence of Mirror Moon Eco Glitter in SA.
Those are amazing initiatives, but there are so many more wonderful initiatives taking place around the world, and you can help them.
You may be wondering what WAFA 2018 is?
It represents vital aspects of life, namely Water, Air, and Food and the silent heroes worldwide improving the quality of life in their respective communities regarding these aspects.
The last ‘A’ in WAFA stands for awards, which aims to recognize these pioneers’ achievements, giving them a platform for exposure, and access to funding and support.
WAFA forever
On June 5, which also happened to be World Environmental Day, WAFA opened their “Finals Voting”- that’s where you come in!
Head on over to the polling page, where you will find the initiatives of the 10 finalists from which you can choose 1.
To vote you will need to go through a lightning quick registration process (literally 1 minute) but it’s so worth it.
The finalists will be flown to Kuala Lumpur for the awards ceremony/celebration, where they will be given an opportunity to present their initiative to an elite global audience.
The winners receive a trophy for the best-practice initiative and WAFA’s support in global media coverage. This garners attention from corporations and organizations that can support scale and replicate expansion to reach more people in need.
Since 2010, WAFA has focused on spreading the word about sustainability entrepreneurs’ breakthroughs in every corner of our planet. These “silent heroes” beat the odds to provide their communities with clean water, air, and food. The world needs to hear from them!
