VIDEO: Moodymann arrested at gunpoint on his own property
Watch this harrowing video of Moodymann arrested on his own property.
Home is where the heart is, home is where you feel safe and secure; at least that’s how it’s supposed to be, but unfortunate for Detroit house and Techno artist Moodymann this was not the case.
Moodymann, real name Kenny Dixon Jr, shared a disturbing video that shows his arrest by police at his home in Detroit, illuminating the police aggression experienced by many minorities in the States.
In the video, posted on Instagram (now deleted but re-shared via Exclaim), you see police standing outside his car in his backyard holding rifles pointed at him.
They are shouting at him to “unlock” the door, demanding him to get out of his car wile keeping the rifles aimed at him…
“Let me unlock it. Let me unlock it,” he says. The video ends as he exits the vehicle.
Overboard is an understatement
Now, we don’t know their side of the story. All we can go by is what is seen and heard on the footage. With saying that, all we hear is them shouting, holding rifles at him and coming off very aggressive while Dixon is calmly conceding.
Moodymann is a beloved figure in the Detroit Techno and House scene, having released dozens of records since the pioneering 90’s.
In the Instagram video caption, a defeated Moodymann recounts the harrowing details of the incident:
“HP police came in (MY BACKYARD) demanding proof of ownership and this is how they reacted,” he wrote. “(Went 2 jail again)charged me 4 Breaking and entering on my own property even though I had keys.what u can’t c is 9 other officers pointing there AR15 directly at my head …next time just pull the MF trigger let’s get this shit over with (I’m tired) I’m so tired.”
