VIDEO: Underwater Music Festival – crazy!
The Underwater Music Festival in Florida was all about preservation of coral reef and responsible diving.
Music Festivals; a collective of people who share the same taste in music and/or the cause for which it stands for.
As music festivals continue to skyrocket in popularity all over the world, many events (and rightfully so) are being geared towards raising awareness of some of the pressing matters facing our planet at this time.
This past week, the Lower Keys Underwater Music Festival took place at the Looe Key Reef Sanctuary in Florida Keys, spreading the message about the utmost importance of preserving the world’s coral reef, as well as responsible diving.
The festival drew in a massive crowd of divers and snorkelers who were treated to 4 hours of music from a local radio station underwater via suspended speakers.
Under the Sea
In keeping with the sea-theme, attendees were treated to music such as The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea”, Jimmy Buffett’s “Fins”, and The Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine”.
Many participants also brought along their own underwater instruments, jamming along to the music, while others dressed up as fish and mermaids, floating about in their element.
It might be fun, but the message is grave. Protecting our oceans and coral reefs is paramount, and the more the message is shared the better. Even better is to change the way people think so that their actions reflect this narrative.
