Ugandan DJ killed by angry revelers for playing ‘boring’ music
Ugandan DJ killed while on the job.
A DJ’s job is to get the crows going, grooving and having a good time but that is not always the case. We’ve all been at a club and stood at the back, complaining about the music without doing anything about it- and by that, I mean leaving said club.
As long as some people are enjoying themselves, the DJ will play what they feel but you know what they aren’t perfect and can sometimes miss the boat completely- it’s not a big deal, you will get over it.
This is not the case of Ugandan DJ, Jerry Okirwoth and the harrowing violence that led to his untimely death.
Jerry Okirwoth was a part-time DJ and student at Parombo Secondary School in Uganda, probably DJing to make some extra cash on weekends to sustain himself throughout his studies.
His last gig was his literal last gig, because of crowd violence.
PLAY THIS SONG!!
Jerry Okirwoth played at a ‘disco’ in Nebbi District, Northern Uganda, when a mob of angry revelers suddenly became livid with the DJ apparently because he didn’t play their favourite songs, making the set ‘boring, leading them to attack him.
WHAT THE FUCK!
William Bob Labeja, Nebbi Resident District Commissioner, addressed the public:
“As the head of security in the district, I will no longer allow any disco operators to conduct their businesses in the sub-county and anybody who defies the directive will be prosecuted. All disco halls in all sub counties must be closed because they are causing insecurity and redundancy among the youth.”
Labeja said there have been reports of five other people killed in the same district over the past WEEK.
People really need to reassess priorities.
Ugandan DJ killed for playing ‘boring’ music, faith in humanity is a bit low at this point.
