Tumi and Chinese Man’s New Album ‘The Journey’
Tumi and Chinese Man (French trip hop trio) got together to release a new album titled ‘The Journey’.
Tumi and Chinese Man previously collaborated back in 2012 on Tá bom. Their new album was released on Chinese Man Records towards the end of last year.
It features ‘Pills For Your Ills’ by Khuli Chana which is the first single to be released off the new album. Youngsta also features on a track titled ‘Past Your Time’ and Taiwan MC on ‘Better That Way’.
‘Pills For Your Ills’ is currently play listed on local South African radio stations. The music video which was shot using POV, has already gained 83 000 views on YouTube. It will be released on local TV this week.
The video for ‘Pills For Your Ills’ was directed by Chinese Man themselves and the VYZ team. The concept for the video was taken from the creative process that went into the album, which is ‘street and spontaneous’. The video also reflects the human relationship with modern technology and the artists’ relationship with images.
While they were in studio they opted to incorporate a sense of urgency in order to maintain a ‘rough aspect and a live energy at the heart of the adventure’. They accelerated the BPM, intertwined the samples, and the MC’s flows ‘went back to basics’.
