True Music Africa Cape Town | A Right to Shine documentary
Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Africa Cape Town shines the light on the Mother City’s Hip-Hop scene.
The True Music Africa series is a 4-city tour showcasing the hustlers in music who are independent and take music to next levels.
The tour starts in Cape Town where we join music makers YoungstaCPT, Dope Saint Jude, K$, Aux Womdantso and DJ Lyle as they speak about making music and living in the Mother City.
The series will then branch out to Cameroon and Nairobi before culminating in Johannesburg in July with the True Music Forum, where the international music community can come together for a type of musical think tank .
Cape Town brings the shine
Apart from the beautiful mountain-encompassing landscape that makes the Mother City shine, she is home to an eclectic array of music makers realizing their dreams.
The video, which can either be found on YouTube or on the True Music Boiler Room website , takes viewers through the minds of SA’s finest hustlers.
These are the artists that defy segregation and politics to rise above the challenges of a complicated society to speak their truth and shine.
As YoungstaCPT puts it: “There must be some sort of light and dark, good or bad, yin and a yang- and because of that I’m (he’s) able to articulate what goes on here.”
There are also segments where YoungstaCPT and Dope Saint Jude spit some rhymes, all shot it the beauty of Cape Town.
The main message shared is that you need to bring the change you wish to see, hustle if you want to make it and shine like you’re meant to.
