Themba made his debut on the Beats 1 weekly radio show, One Mix, last weekend. This rising SA star celebrates African sounds and rhythms in house and techno, with his cultural, expressive style of music ever-increasing his popularity both locally and globally.
His Heart of Africa mix is available exclusively through Apple Music, and features tracks from fellow techno and house heavyweights like Black Coffee, Da Capo, Enoo Napa, Lemon & Herb, and Culoe De Song, plus brand new Themba.
Its Themba
Themba has walked a long road with DJing, playing his first gig at 14-years-old at a birthday party where his love of sharing music with people struck a chord with him, yet he still took the conventional route of studying accounting at college.
The itch that couldn’t be scratched, Themba ended up dropping out of college to seriously pursue his music dream full time and his hard work paid off.
He has worked with countless local singers, songwriters, and percussionists, bringing a taste of Africa’s distinct rhythm and soul sounds to classic electronic music genres house and techno.
Last year, Themba accompanied Techno heavyweight and friend Black Coffee to Ibiza, where he played at his (Black Coffee’s) Hi Ibiza residency.
Before one of the shows, Themba nearly burst his appendix, but soldiered through and played the day he got out of hospital post-surgery.
