The Nasty C Bad Hair music video tops Apple Music charts
The Nasty C Bad Hair music video directed by Kyle Lewis has topped Apple Music video charts.
The video was even featured in the US, UK, France, and Germany. This is a great achievement for a local music video and a breaking down of international barriers, giving other local artists a gateway.
Apple Music has described the Nasty C Bad Hair music video as “epic”, “stunning”, and featuring “audacious visuals”.
Another track of Nasty C’s titled Don’t Do It was played on the Beats 1 hip hop show with Ebro.
” “From New York City to South Africa, hip-hop’s global reach is amazing. At the helm, we have young cats like Nasty C pushing the culture forward both musically and visually,” expressed Ebro.
“Nasty C approached me to direct a film featuring three of his songs, that would make a statement. It’s an art piece about his own journey of breaking free and becoming a man, with the three sections representing the past, present and future respectively. Visually, the films move further and further away from the initial renaissance styling, as a visual metaphor for breaking way from the ideals of the past and becoming true to yourself. As surreal as it gets, I tried to keep it as real and visceral as possible, which is what I got from Nasty’s music,” says Kyle Lewis, director of the Nasty C Bad Hair music video.
Channel O even shared their thoughts on the film styled music video and the directorial stylings of none other than the benchmarking raising Kyle Lewis…
“Nasty C just pushed the bar higher than it’s ever been… Far beyond anything anyone has seen previously on local soil… Remarkable… Simply cannot be missed.”
