The Concept #Bathini is the latest single by the local South African hip hop group. Recently at the freshly renovated Soweto Theatre they performed the new track at Soweto Fashion Week.

The guys of The Concept hip hop group all come from different backgrounds, and this is part of their edge. With each member having a separate childhood story, they are able to each bring their own original voice into the mix.

The group members are known as, Thabiso “Cata-Lust” Lawrence, Karabo “4bidden” Motsele and Ferdinand “FerdyFerd” Buffel alongside Brad “DJ Cutt” Tapinos who is The Concept’s performance DJ.

The blend of their styles compliments the other in the spirited kind of way that works it into something new.

The members were focused on creating the kind of song that had the characteristics of a classic hit with longevity. This attitude is important in a sea of instant, throw away hits on the landscape of the modern music industry.

“We immediately knew the feel we wanted people to adhere to when they first heard the song. We wanted it to sound like the song has been around for years. A classic” shared Ferdy Ferd

The meaning behind The Concept #Bathini is a question that asks “What are they saying?”

The group members asked themselves this same question when they got together to create The Concept #Bathini track.

“In essence we don’t care what they are saying, we came to follow our dream and make it a reality.” says Cata-Lust

“We also pose this question to anyone who has haters. It doesn’t matter what they are saying, whether you’re in a club, working in your office, you can turn up the music and do you.” Adds 4bidden

They got the beat for the track from TruHitz, a producer who has worked with Stilo Magolide of BoyzNBuckz.
