“I was enormously impressed meeting Emmanual Jal. He is an extraordinary artist, led by the heart”. Peter Gabriel
The Goethe-Institut and African Synergy bring trailblazing African popular culture to South Africa through an exclusive live performance by one of the world’s most notorious peace ambassadors – Sudanese child soldier, turned rapper, Emmanual Jal.
Performing his musical repertoire at The Alex in Braamfontein on the 10th September, Emmanual will be supported by local hip-hop legends Tumi & The Volume.
Not only an immense musical force, Emmanual is also known worldwide as one of the most active ambassadors for peace ever to come out of Africa.
A young man in his twenties having endured and survived unbelievable struggles in war-torn Sudan, he has committed his life to spreading the gospel of peace around the world, be it through music, the media or his public addresses. He has been interviewed by the New York Times, CNN, the BBC and Fox News amongst others, as well as having performed at some of the world’s largest peace rallies.
His personal accolades are countless and in 2008, the film documentary on his life story was released. Entitled Warchild, the film won 12 prestigious film festival awards worldwide. The same year, his biography of the same name was released to acclaim worldwide.
