A study reveals which music fans do the most drugs
Drug use is prevalent in the music world, but which music fans consume the most substances?
Where there’s live music, there’s generally some sort of substance legal or not. What’s interesting is how substances correlate to certain genres, with some being stereotypical like marijuana being common at Marley Fest or LSD at Electric Forest.
In this study by DrugAbuse.com, they surveyed 976 music festival attendees revealing what genres attract the most users.
The overall average reveals the top 5 most intoxicated genres concert-wise:
- EDM with 67.5% – No real surprise there, EDM frequencies lends itself well with intoxication.
- Heavy Metal with 62.2%- This is mildly surprising, but also not really. Remember the 80’s?
- Alternative with 60.6%- “Sex, drugs and Rock n Roll”
- Indie Rock with 60.2%- Rock on!
- Reggae with 60%- surprising that it beat Hip Hop for the fifth spot.
