There are plenty musical fish in the sea, and hooking the write listeners takes ample planning, market-research and the hot word of this age; DATA.
Data is one of the most important weapons in any industry’s arsenal, with no exception to artists.
Spotify has finally made an app that can give an artist access to listener data so that they can increase their marketability.
Spotify for Artists allows them information like how, where and by whom their music is being purchased or streamed.
The app is a mobile version of the Spotify artists’ dashboard on desktop, which is perfect seeing as most artists are frequently on the road.
For the artists
Product manager Miles Lennon says that the movement to making it accessible via mobile device was the company’s top priority.
“The first thing we’re trying to achieve is meeting the artists’ needs to have mobility,” he says. “They don’t have desk jobs. While we have a desktop product, it’s not accessible to them,” he adds.
Some features of the app:
-Artists can update their profiles and playlists.
-Share what they’re listening to with fans
– Connect easily with fans
-See listener demographics, including; gender, age and location.
– What they’re fans are streaming, how they listen, as well as what other music they access.
Although it’s currently only available for iOS, it is making its way towards Android systems in a few weeks.
