Space Ibiza closes doors – watch the documentary

Space Ibiza has officially closed down after nearly three decades of growing into one of the most famous electronic dance music night clubs in the world.

A few weeks ago we reported on the closing of London’s iconic Fabric night club and the subsequent protesting by the public of its forced closure by the local government. To keep tabs on the support for the Fabric movement you can follow the #savefabric hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.

If you speak about Ibiza, then you speak about Space. The venue has managed to remain consistently successful and relevant in the twenty seven years that the world of clubbing and dance music has evolved. It takes a considerable amount of dedication, skill, and passion to maintain a venue and its brand for this long. Therefore when an era such as Space Ibiza comes to an end, it is fitting to pay tribute and make notes for historical purposes.

The White Isle

Space Ibiza is located in the Playa D’en Bossa region of the White Isle. The venue blossomed into a go to club on the island with a long list of impressive residencies such as Carl Cox, who recently ended his fifteen year Music Is Revolution night with a luxuriously long all night set.

This past Sunday, Space Ibiza had one final party then closed its doors for the last time. The line-up included David Morales, Josh Wink, Sasha, Anja Schneider, and Carl Cox.

The documentary that they have released after the closing is a heartwarming reminder of their legacy. It features intimate chats with the club’s 80 year-old founder, Pepe Rosello. Burlesque dance Dita Von Teese even shared her sentiments on Space Ibiza….

“I had a really wonderful time, it’s one of my favourite places. I really love coming to Ibiza, it’s one of my favourite trips ever and being able to perform in this wonderful space. I really like being part of the show and I was impressed by the dancers and the styling and the way that this whole night is set up. So it was a really, really big pleasure for me.”
