South African DJ Rowick Deep Killed
South African Dj and producer Rowick Deep has died according to a social media post on the Facebook page of Multi-racial records, a label he had a longstanding relationship with.
This is what they posted…
“It’s with great shock, sadness and a heavy heart that We inform the public that Rowick Deep Stevens was killed on Sunday 24th April 2016, Our deepest condolences to the Steven’s family and friends, further information cannot be divulged at this point of time as the matter is currently under investigation, we ask the members of the public and media to respect the Stevens’ family and friends at this time of grieving.”
Rowick Deep was a well known DJ and house music producer and epitomized the Pretoria deep house scene of the mid 2000’s.
He joined Multi-racial records in the mid 2000’s and released a bunch of top albums such as “Loxion House Kulcha”, a mixed compilation in partnership with Multi-Racial and the Loxion Kulcha clothing brand, as well as two studio solo albums “Music is Life” and “Unleashed” respectively.
His third studio album “Deep Hays” was a collaborative release with Auriol Hays and he was reportedly working on his third solo album too.
Artists such as Funk Deepstar, Jullian Gomes, and BobstaDJ all took to social media to convey their condolences.
RIP Rowick Deep. You were a true blue deep house DJ and producer.
