Soundcloud mid-tiered music offer for $4.99 announced
The new Soundcloud mid-tiered music offer is going for $4.99 per month.
In a bid to get more of its loyal users to sign up for its subscription service they have introduced the Soundcloud mid-tiered music offer to entice people.
The Soundcloud mid-tiered music offer will give you access to around one hundred and twenty million songs. It will be an ad free experience and you will be able to listen offline as well. For the higher tier known as Soundcloud Go, you can expect to pay $9.99 per month and you will have access to one hundred and fifty million songs.
The company is desperately trying to monetize the Soundcloud experience in a way that will see real profitable gain. Reportedly, they could run out of money this year if this cash flow problem is not solved.
“In 2016 our revenues grew rapidly–we’ll see a 2.5X increase. The music streaming market is growing at an incredible pace. We’re looking to build a massive, strong, independent service. We’re not closing down this year. Absolutely not,” says SoundCloud co-founder Alex Ljung.
Previously, we reported on the news that Soundcloud was in talks for being sold but that never came through. Ljung confirmed that the company is not for sale.
The music on each of the packages is ‘nuanced’. Major pop stars will be available on the premium package and you would be able to find lesser known artists on the Soundcloud mid-tiered music offer.
“The way to think about Plus, is it’s the ultimate music sub package, with 150 million tracks, much more than any other service,” said Ljung.
Most of the music uploaded on the streaming site has been uploaded by the musicians themselves. Soundcloud’s library is widely extensive compared to other streaming services such as Apple with forty million tracks and Spotify with thirty million. It is with great hope for the future of the business that the Soundcloud mid-tiered music offer takes off with users.
