Social Media Sneakers to help you make friends
These new concept social media sneakers have been designed to help you find and make friends with common interests.
The app development industry is a hot ticket, awash with creative developers looking to come up with the next big app and make their fortunes. The race for developing a profitable app has produced innovative app ideas for almost anything imaginable. The only real challenge seems to be the follow through of technology that is sustainable and capable.
The social media sneakers were designed by Rhode Island School of Design student Bojian Han. While these special shoes are not yet wearable, they promise to have you “connecting with new soles in no time”.
It may have never crossed your mind before that social media sneakers could help you find friends but it could soon be a reality.
How it works
How it will work is that you download the app and it will automatically connect the shoes to your social media channels.
The app reads your social media profile/s and knows your preferences, hobbies, and what you do every day. It will use the date and generate a special colour that is only for you.
Using your personalised colours and LED lights, the shoes will indicate if you are near someone that you have things in common with. The material mimics the structure of moth wings, making the shoes light up. When you are near someone with a similar colour, your shoes will shine even more brightly and will also blink feverishly. This is to help make you aware that you have a match close by.
Imagine cruising up to someone just as futuristic as you are at an event, and seeing your lights match. It makes for a rather special “how I met your mother story”.
It also beats Tinder [Ed].
