Smoking Dragon NYE 2018 Festival has everything for everyone
The Smoking Dragon NYE 2018 Festival is going to be dragon lit!
The image created by Smoking Dragon is of misty mountains, translucent waters, smouldering fires and a hobbit-like celebration.
That’s exactly what you’’ find at Smoking Dragon, minus the dragon. On the 29th to 31st of December 2018 Amphitheatre Backpackers brings you the celebration of celebrations in the Drakensberg’s Royal Natal National Park, conveniently located midway between Jozi and Durbs- all are welcome.
The festival boasts 6 themed stages, including:
The Empire hip hop/kwaito fusion with a line-up curated by film producer Azola Qongqo that includes the likes of DJ Fresh, Big Nuz, DJ Zinhle, Euphonik, Zola 7, Da Cop and Glen Lewis, to name a few.
The Mainstream brings that popular appeal with big names like Mi Casa, Monark, December Streets and Phfat. The first night will feature an all-female line-up, including thrilling pianist Busijazz, wild rockers Cortina Whiplash and young Holly-
Electrically ripple to the pink tent
The Electric Jungle is, you guessed it- the EDM area! The line-up includes tastemakers like SAMA Award-winning producer Sun-El, Pascal & Pearce, Mark Stent, Das Kapital, Ryan Murgatroyd, Hippie Mafia and Haezer to name a few.
The Ripple Stage overlooks one of the dams, and features tunes from world music DJs like Mystikal Ebony, Aphro Hlophe and Eye-On Feather. Solo acts include Gavin W Ferguson, Werner Bekker and more. It also features The Fringe; a place where hip hop newbies and slam poets are given a stage.
Unique to Smoking Dragon The Pink Tent a fun and LGBT – friendly area that upholds one of the core principals of the festival – all people are welcome. Acts like Tony Bala, Andy Mkosi, Msaki, Peter Ngqibs and Rainbow Abomination
The nights rev up with top DJs like Kyle Worde, Hyroine, Verandah Panda, Abby Nurock, Simstar and ANG as well as international DJs Chanel Cochrane (UK) and The General (AUS).
