Sibot & OKMalumkoolkat ‘Nice Shandees’ video directed by Lebogang Rasethaba
Sibot & OKMalumkoolkat ‘Nice Shandees’ video directed by Lebogang Rasethaba is up on YouTube and so far it seems as though people like what they are seeing.
“Nice Shandees was the start of a close friendship with OKmalum. We seem to get each other, which is rare.” says Sibot
It’s only been up since Monday but already has over four thousand views and sports a few ingratiating comments.
Sibot & OKMalumkoolkat have also been featured in Lebogang Rasetheba’s ‘Future Sound Of Mzansi’ documentary. We reported on the making of this doccie in an earlier news story, it spotlights the stories of South African electronic music artists in a post Apartheid climate.
“Sibot’s beat and Okmalumkoolkat’s lyrics gave us an opportunity to create a world that has never been seen before. Once that became clear to us, we set to make a stand out video that broke all standing space-time continuum inventories within music video language.” says Lebogang
Sibot has released music for on the Mad Decent label owned by Diplo and has collaborated with some of the local scene’s most stand out artists, such as Felix Laband, Spoek Mathambo, Markus Wormstorm, and Ninja of Die Antwoord.
OKmalumkoolkat similarly has a strong following in South Africans. He is known not only for his solo efforts but also for his collaborations as BoyznBucks and Dirty Paraffin.
Nice Shandees was originally released last year on Sibot’s free-download EP, Arc Eyes.
A few of the gushy comments:
“A collaboration by two of the best in the business.”
“As per usual Malume comes through with the crazy visuals that no other artist can copy…”
“Nice Shandees… features one of our favourite South African rappers, Okmalumkoolkat. He is also one of the weirdest rappers in SA, if not the world, and his quirky flow works wonders with the spaces in Sibot’s synth-heavy beat.”
