Sasha Martinengo ‘let go’ from Hot 91.9FM effective immediately
Sasha Martinengo has been dismissed from Hot 91.9FM.
Former 5FM radio DJ Sashaaaaa Martinengooo has been dismissed effective immediately following the comments he uttered during an on-air broadcast of his Breakfast Show last Tuesday.
Sasha joined Hot 91.9FM last November, and less than a year later it seems this stint is done for.
During the course of the Breakfast Show in question, he made a reference saying: [A]nd people still listen to this monkey,” referring to EFF leader, Julius Malema.
In a press statement issued by managing director of Hot 91.9FM, Lloyd Madurai, he commented that the remarks made by Martinengo “”violated the station’s code of conduct and its commitment to our national democratic values” and is viewed in “an extremely serious light.”
This led to his immediate dismissal.
Too late to apologise
Martinengo went on the defensive, apologising repeatedly, to no avail; the station is having none of it, further releasing a direct apology to Malema saying it deeply regrets any “adverse inference that the conduct of the presenter has had”.
“The station will not tolerate at any stage such conduct. The station is fully committed to all members of our community equally irrespective of their political, ideological, religious or social viewpoints and stands for tolerance, equality and the constitutional rights of all,” says Madurai.
Sasha responded on Twitter, saying: “I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but I stand by what I said. Anyone, irrespective of their race, colour, creed, religion, gender who disrespects a woman is a monkey.”

But being dismissed from a radio station is the least of his worries as it appears the EFF has indicated it will lay a criminal complaint against the radio host.
Sasha Martinengo is in for a tough time!
